Welcome to my blog. I am a Web designer from the Northwestern UK (near Manchester). Aside from the usual rants and observations, I also plan to share any of the cool or useful CSS/JS and maybe a bit of Flash snippets I discover in the problem solving that is associated in my Day to Day job.

And some interesting links

I personally have never seen a MySpace page that didn't look crappy, and assumed it must be some overall failing in the publishing method. But Apple (and obviously some talented designers/coders) have decided to use it to promote the new iPods Blue, Pink and Green. Now I know some may call them 'To corporate', but one things for sure they stand out from the usual MySpace mire. What isn't clear is if these have been done the usual 'MySpace way' or if they have been done by a 'sponsorshp' deal avoiding the usual 'front end' programming system. Bet they are one of the few MySpace sites with full permission to use the audio on them thoug.

Something else I came across today is searchmash which is some sort of U.I. 'sandbox' created by Google. lot's of things about it are very cool. the URL's to the search results pages are human readable (http://www.searchmash.com/search/antony+ellam for example unlike the string of ?,+ and the linek usually found in a Search engines results URL) and I like the way the 'search box' sticks to the top of the window, even as you scroll down the links. Some of it is less good though, like the way that the alternative links to the results (the Open in new window, the cashed version etc.) are somewhat hidden in a dropdown menu that only appears when you click on the address under the result. The ability to 'reorder' the results is a bit useless, as this isn't saved if you return to the result.
